2008 Zagats Review
Ratings: 20 Food, 15 Decor, 17 Service, $36.00 Cost
A "welcome escape" from the usual Soho hot spots, this "casual", "welcoming" Caribbean dishes up "flavorful" fare and "killer" mojitos at surprisingly "affordable" prices given the zip code; the mood is "festive" (read: "loud") and the staff "friendly" if sometimes "harried."

"Something different" in Soho, this "laid-back" Caribbean comes as a "surprise in such a trendy neighborhood" (ditto the "reasonable prices"); the food is "authentic", the mojitos "awesome" and the staff "flirtatious", ergo it's a "fun place to go with the girls."
New York Magazine
"Beach-chair-webbed banquettes, ceiling fans, and great mojitos conspire to lend this sunny Soho spot a sexy South Florida feel. Chef Isaac Reyes's Latin-American dishes like sofrito-marinated chicken with cilantro-whipped yuca strike a nice balance between gussied up and homey. Don't miss the coconut-crusted dulce-de-leche flavored flan for dessert."
Time Out New York Eating & Drinking Guide
"The mobs and snobs of Soho seem miles away when you kick back with a tart caipirinha at this island -themed bistro. The walls are lined with tropical graffiti murals by New York artist Daze, and the Brazilian jazz keeps everyone - including the first-rate guayabera-clad servers - in the groove. Chef Isaac Reyes's food is as spirited as the ambiance. The menu encompasses a wide range of Caribbean styles - with influences from the Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad, and Mexico, all a pleasant change from the usual cosa..."
The Village Voice "Best Of New York"
"Let your eyes salute the altars to Yemaya and Ochun at the entrance to IDEYA, where bodega and bistro blend. Snag a table and indulge in one of the myriad riffs on a rum theme, or signal for a beer. Then let the light bacalaitos and the cheese filled arepas take you south of the border. Some of the appetizers like the camarones a la parilla, could be light entrees, while the cumin scented pork loin is made for the hungrier folk. It's Soho, but you'll get out without having to mortgage your hopes of a real vacation.
Paper Magazine
"The Nuevo Latino cuisine is passionate and the tropical drinks are irresistible."
